Plan Colombia and Environmental Racism

Throughout the global South, people of color nurture delicate ecosystems. Scenes from "Plan Colombia: Cashing in on the Drug War Failure" show how US-backed "drug wars" threaten the environment of a rural Black community in Colombia. The video emphasizes the doubling of cocaine imported into the US during the last 10 years. Green Time host Don Fitz discusses the possibility that "drug wars" were intended to devastate the African-American community with Zaki Baruti of the Universal African Peoples Organization. "Plan Colombia" footage includes comments from Noam Chomsky, Colombian Green Party Presidential Candidate Ingrid Betancourt, and US Member of Congress John Conyers.
