Genesis House, 6018 Delmar, just east of Skinker
Draconian
practices of the US government have lead to mass imprisonment, especially
of people of color. This goes hand-in-hand with abuse of prisoners throughout
correction systems in the US.
This daily
torture of US prisoners is the basis for violence against prisoners
in other countries, since many guards abroad were trained in inmate
control techniques in the US. The tendency to violence by US military
personnel is increased by their training and by drugs that are tested
on them. The program will ask "Who is ultimately responsible for
prison
atrocities committed by Americans in Iraq?"
The panel
will include:
Greg
Tumlin, Universal African People's Organization, discussing mass
incarceration and the struggle to save our children
Zaki
Baruti, Green Party of St. Louis, Coalition Against Police Crimes
and Repression, discussing the racism of prison systems.
Bud
DeRaps, Veterans for Peace, discussing the training and drugging
of US servicepeople.
