Turn the City Green! |
WHEN:
7:00 pm,
Wednesday, April 1, 2009
WHERE: Legacy Books & Cafe, 5249 Delmar (near Union), St. Louis MO 63108
A panel discussion will include:
• Rev. Elston K. McCowan, Green Party candidate, Mayor of St. Louis
• Ken Hollenbeck, Green Party candidate, 13th Ward Alderperson
• Eugene Frison, Green Party candidate, 9th Ward Alderperson
• Tim Kaminski, Green Party candidate, 7th Ward Alderperson
The Green Party wants to keep all public schools open, instead of destroying public education as the current mayor is doing. A Green Party mayor would rehire Fire Chief Sherman George, who was fired by Francis Slay.
A Green City government would expand bus lines with reduced fares. Greens would remove lead from homes and schools before children are poisoned, instead of waiting until after poisoning occurs as the current administration does. Greens work for no new nuclear power plant at Callaway and universal health care with holistic medicine.
The Green Party advocates local control of St. Louis police and guaranteed work of 20–30 hours per week for City residents. Greens endorse “No eminent domain for private gain!” and “No public funds for private sports stadiums!”
