The attack on civil liberties during the past eight years extend beyond the crimes of one “rogue” president. The struggle for human rights began before the writing of the Constitution and has continued throughout US history.
After World War II, the US enormously expanded its role in suppressing human rights across the globe as it backed one dictator after another.
What will a new president mean for equality and justice in the US and beyond its borders? Will there be meaningful change or will we see a government which talks the talk of human rights without walking the walk? What do activists need to do to overturn the PATRIOT Act and ensure a path toward justice?
