Cannabis has been an important medicine for illness symptoms for thousands of years, and medically prescribed for treatment of chemotherapy nausea since the 1930’s. In recent years worldwide research points to cannabinoids successfully treating a wide range of diseases, including some cancers. Cannabis criminalization often makes these breakthroughs unavailable. It leads to seizure of property during arrests. Criminalization hits people of color particularly hard, since blacks and Latinos are more likely to be convicted and receive longer sentences. How can we work for a rational drug policy?
