Millions of people throughout the world are protesting food that has been contaminated with GMOs (genetically modified organisms). GMO food has unknown health effects and means increasing quantities of pesticides. In order to stop the truth about GMO food from being researched, Monsanto’s friends in high places are suppressing scientific findings, such as those by Ignacio Chapela, Arpad Puztai and Gilles-Eric Sèralini. Monsanto is using its “patents on life” to prevent farmers across the world from saving their seed. This means that the poor in Latin America, Africa and Asia are losing their culture and the ability to feed themselves. A thick cloud of silence threatens to suffocate dissent in St. Louis as Monsanto drops money and political influence on many who otherwise might question it.
