Attacks on unions undermine living standards of all working people. For over five decades, neoliberal policies have caused public services austerity and job cuts. The assault has targeted educators, bus drivers, sanitation workers, healthcare workers and city employees. Underprivileged communities are hit hardest. We must win good union jobs for all, especially by defending, strengthening and expanding the public Postal Service from a congressionally-manufactured crisis and efforts to dismantle and privatize it. What type of working-class political action will revitalize public services and jobs? We must learn lessons of past efforts – how have working people defended themselves before?
